Sixth graders say it with posters: Stay drug free

Sixth-graders in the Southwest campus classroom of Mr. Kareme Thomas used posters carrying anti-drug images to close out Red Ribbon Week, the largest drug-abuse prevention campaign in the United States.

Some backed up their message with short anti-drug videos to press their case.

Red Ribbon Week was established in response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena. People began to wear red ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs.

Campuses across The Varnett Public School used the week, October 23-31, 2022, to illustrate different ways to deliver the drug prevention message.
