Kindergartners find many ways to count to 100

On Tuesday, February 4, 2014, we had our 100th Day of School celebration. The students were very excited that we had been in school this long.

For their math project, they were told to collect 100 items and arrange them in any order they wanted. The students were very creative. They used beads, crayons, pencils, glitter, stickers, Googly eyes, paper clips, pipe cleaners, pom pom balls, toothpicks, rocks, tissue paper, coins and buttons.

We ended the day by reading Emily’s First 100 Days of School by Rosemary Wells.

At the beginning of the school year, we bought a calendar and then marked it every day until we got to 100. The students were really excited about that. The project was designed to help them count and show creativity at the same time.

We’ll see you on our next project!!
