Parents, students learn you can do math with just about anything

Real-life experience and hands-on math are very important to ensure that children can truly grasp the concepts.

That's why the Southwest Campus Thursday held "Math Night" at the cafeteria where roughly 60 parents joined their children in conducting math activities. The parents also were given packets to help their children do the always crucial homework assignments.

The exercises were designed to help students "do, think and talk math."

Students built three-dimensional figures out of marshmallows and sticks, conducted measurement exercises, used strips of papers to shape the human body and played the popular game Bingo. The families also did multiplications by using Cheerios and employed  a buzzer to play math competition games.

Thanks to those who came to Math Night and helped in the education of their children.

Coming up will be Literacy Night and Science Night. Stay tuned.
