Ms. Jackson, Ms. Rivera win monthly honors

Ms. Deloris Jackson, the Southwest Campus librarian, and Ms. Melissa Rivera, a first-grade teacher, have been named Employee of the Month and Teacher of the Month, respectively.

Ms. Jackson has been with The Varnett Public School for 23 years.  She has one child whom she calls her "darling boy."  A graduate of Southern University in  Baton Rouge, La., Ms. Jackson believes that children truly are our future and that we should invest in them. That is exactly why she is here.  We are thankful for Ms. Jackson  and the love she displays for our students. Congratulations Ms. Jackson!

Ms. Rivera is one of our fabulous first-grade teachers. She hails from the University of Houston, where she graduated with a degree in education. This is her second year at The Varnett Public School, but she has been in education for the last 10 years.

Ms. Rivera believes in setting high expectations for all students and works hard to ensure her students meet them. She also serves as the first-grade team leader and helps guide and assist her team members to be their best for our students. Congratulations, Ms. Rivera.
