Vision and hearing screenings
Who needs to be screened:
- All first-time entrants (age 4 and older)
- All four-year-olds (four years old as of Sept. 1, 2018)
- All kindergartners
- All third, fifth and seventh graders
Please try to have your child in attendance at school the day of the screening.
If your child wears glasses or contacts, please be sure he or she brings them to school the day of the screening.
Texas risk assessment for Type 2 diabetes in children (acanthosis Nigrican, or AN) screening
Who needs to be screened:
- All first graders
- All third graders
- All fifth graders
- All seventh graders
Spinal screening
Who needs to be screened:
- Girls in grades 5 and 7
- Boys in grade 8.
Boys and girls need to remove their shirts when screened individually. Girls are required to wear a bra, sports bra or swimsuit top. The screening will be conducted in a private area with two registered nurses.
